Before You Go

When to Visit

October to May offers the best weather with warm days (22-28°C/72-82°F) and cool nights (10-15°C). October brings Día de los Muertos celebrations. June to September is rainy season with daily afternoon showers but fewer tourists and lower prices. Oaxaca sits at 1,500m elevation - expect cooler temperatures than coastal areas.

Visa

Check requirements

US, Canadian, EU, Australian, and many other nationals can enter Mexico visa-free for up to 180 days. You'll receive a FMM (tourist card) on arrival. Check inm.gob.mx.

Mexican Peso (MXN). Exchange rate roughly 17-20 MXN per USD. Cards accepted at hotels and nicer restaurants, but cash is essential for markets, street food, mezcalerías, and taxis. ATMs available in historic center.
