When to Visit

November to February offers the best weather with temperatures from 20-30°C (68-86°F) and low humidity. March to May is extremely hot and humid (30-40°C). June to September brings monsoon rains - heavy downpours that can flood streets but also bring dramatic beauty and lower prices. Winter is peak season for tourism and outdoor activities.

Most visitors need an e-Visa obtained online before travel (available for 169 nationalities) or a traditional visa. E-Visa allows 60-day stays. Apply at least 4 days before travel at indianvisaonline.gov.in.

Local Trains: The lifeline of Mumbai, connecting suburbs to downtown. Extremely crowded during rush hours. Separate ladies' compartments. Very cheap (10-50 INR).

Uber/Ola: Widely used and affordable (100-300 INR for most trips in central areas). More reliable than metered taxis.

Auto-rickshaws: Three-wheelers only allowed outside city limits. Negotiate price or use meter.

Buses: BEST buses cover the city but can be confusing and crowded.

Taxis: Black-and-yellow metered taxis abundant but often refuse to use meter. Uber is easier.

Walking: South Mumbai areas like Colaba, Fort, and Marine Drive are walkable. Intense heat and crowds can be challenging.
