When to Visit

May to September offers the best weather with temperatures from 20-28°C (68-82°F) and sunny skies - perfect for beaches. July and August are peak season with warm weather but crowds. April and October offer pleasant weather with fewer tourists. November to March is mild (10-18°C) but some businesses close, though prices are lower.

Transportation

By Air: Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE) is 7km southwest of the city center, the main gateway to the French Riviera.

By Train: Nice-Ville station connects to Marseille (2.5 hours), Paris (5.5 hours via TGV), and other French cities.

By Car: A8 motorway connects to Monaco, Cannes, and other Riviera towns.

Language

Communication

French is the official language. English is spoken in tourist areas, hotels, and restaurants, but less so in local neighborhoods. Basic French phrases are appreciated.

Money matters

Euro (EUR). Cards accepted at most hotels, restaurants, and shops, but cash is still preferred at smaller establishments, markets, and cafes. ATMs widely available.

Tram: Two lines covering the city center and suburbs (single ride €1.50).

Buses: Comprehensive network, same tickets work.

Walking: The Promenade des Anglais and Old Town (Vieux Nice) are very walkable.
