December to April offers perfect weather with temperatures from 23-28°C (73-82°F), minimal rain, and ideal beach conditions - but also peak season with higher prices. May to November is hurricane season with hot, humid weather and occasional storms, though prices drop significantly. August-October highest hurricane risk.

Getting There
TransportationBy Air: Cancún International Airport (CUN) is one of Mexico's busiest, located 16km south of Hotel Zone.
By Bus: ADO buses from other Mexican cities including Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Mérida.
By Car: Highway 307 along Caribbean coast.
Language
CommunicationSpanish is official. English very widely spoken in Hotel Zone, restaurants, and tourist areas - Cancún caters heavily to international tourism. Service staff are typically bilingual.
Currency
Money mattersMexican Peso (MXN). Exchange rate roughly 17-20 MXN per USD. US dollars widely accepted in Hotel Zone at poor exchange rates - better to pay in pesos. Cards accepted at most establishments. ATMs widely available.
Getting Around
Local transportLocal Buses (R-1, R-2): Cheap along Hotel Zone and to downtown (12-15 pesos). Frequent service.
Taxis: No meters - negotiate before getting in. Hotel Zone to downtown 150-200 pesos. Between hotels 50-100 pesos.
Uber: Available and popular, often cheaper than taxis (80-200 pesos for most trips).
Colectivos: Shared vans to Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and other destinations (cheap, 30-100 pesos).
Rental Car: Useful for exploring Riviera Maya, cenotes, and Mayan ruins. Parking generally available.
Walking: Hotel Zone is long (22km) - walkable within sections but not end-to-end. Downtown compact and walkable.
From the Airport
Arrival infoADO Bus: To Hotel Zone or downtown (20-40 min, 100-200 pesos depending on destination).
Taxi: Authorized airport taxis with zone-based pricing. To Hotel Zone 500-800 pesos depending on location (20-30 min).
Uber: Pickup areas available, typically 350-600 pesos to Hotel Zone.
Shared Shuttle: Available to major hotels (200-300 pesos per person).
Rental Car: Many agencies at airport.
