Before You Go

When to Visit

April to May (spring) and September to October (autumn) offer pleasant weather with temperatures from 15-25°C (59-77°F) and clear skies - ideal for sightseeing. Summer (June-August) is hot and humid (25-35°C) with occasional rain. Winter (November-March) is cold and dry (0-10°C) but fewer crowds. Avoid Chinese New Year (January/February) and Golden Week (early October) when prices spike.

Visa

Check requirements

Most visitors need a Chinese visa obtained before travel. US, Canadian, and many other nationals can get 10-year multiple-entry visas. Some countries have visa-free transit for 72-144 hours if connecting flights. Check requirements at chineseembassy.org.
