When to Visit

November to May offers perfect weather with temperatures from 21-28°C (70-82°F), sunny skies, and calm seas - ideal for beach activities and whale watching (December-March). June to October is hurricane season with hot, humid weather and occasional storms, though prices drop significantly. Summer is popular with Mexican tourists despite the heat.

Transportation

By Air: Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) serves both Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, located between the two towns.

By Car: Highway 1 from La Paz (2 hours north) or a very long drive from mainland Mexico via Tijuana (20+ hours).

By Ferry: Services from Mazatlán to La Paz, then drive to Los Cabos.

Language

Communication

Spanish is the official language. English is widely spoken in hotels, restaurants, and tourist areas - Los Cabos caters heavily to American tourists. Service staff are generally bilingual.

Currency

Money matters

Mexican Peso (MXN). Exchange rate roughly 17-20 MXN per USD. US dollars are widely accepted in tourist areas but you'll get better rates paying in pesos. Cards accepted at most establishments. ATMs available but often have high fees.

Getting Around

Local transport

Rental Car: Best option for exploring both towns and beaches between them (20km corridor). Parking is generally easy.

Taxis: Plentiful but expensive (negotiate before getting in). $30-50 USD between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo.

Uber: Not officially allowed but operates in some areas.

Local Buses: Cheap option connecting the two towns (15-20 pesos, 30-45 min).

Walking: Downtown Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo are walkable, but it's hot.
