Before You Go
April to June and September to October offer ideal weather (18-26°C/64-79°F) with fewer crowds and reasonable prices. July-August is peak season - very hot, crowded, and expensive but best for beach clubs. Winter is mild but many businesses close November-March.

Getting There
TransportationBy Air: Naples International Airport (NAP) is nearest major airport (60km from Positano).
By Train: To Salerno or Sorrento, then bus/ferry along coast.
By Car: Scenic but extremely narrow, winding roads. SS163 coastal road. Parking very limited and expensive.
By Ferry: Summer ferries connect Positano, Amalfi, Salerno, Capri, Sorrento.
Language
CommunicationItalian is official. English spoken in hotels and tourist restaurants, limited in local spots.
Currency
Money mattersEuro (EUR). Cards accepted at hotels and restaurants, cash for smaller shops and beaches. Note: Amalfi Coast is expensive.
Getting Around
Local transportSITA Buses: Connect towns along coast (€2-4). Scenic but crowded, especially summer. Can take 2+ hours end-to-end.
Ferries: Fastest way between towns in summer (€8-20). Seasonal April-October.
Taxis: Expensive but sometimes necessary (€50-100+ between towns).
Scooter Rental: Popular but roads are challenging (€30-50/day).
Walking: Each town is walkable but very hilly with many stairs. Towns are far apart - need transport between them.
From the Airport
Arrival infoFrom Naples Airport:
Alibus to Naples port, then ferry (2+ hours total, €15-25).
Private Transfer: Most convenient (€100-150 to Positano, 90 min).
Curreri Bus: Direct to Sorrento, connect to coast (2+ hours, €10).
Train to Salerno + SITA bus: Cheaper but slow (2.5+ hours, €15).
